BS 180 OLLIE

Lots of people say it’s harder than the Frontside 180 - in this episode Geoff will be teaching you the super stylish, Backside 180 Ollie.

We'd like to say a big thank you to ATBShop Skate Warehouse for letting us film in their park and Geoff from Rubicon for his time and expertise.

HOW TO BACKSIDE 180 OLLIE

DEFINITIONS:

WHAT IS BACKSIDE?

In the Backside 180 Ollie the term ‘backside’ describes the direction you will spin, and means turning the back of your body around to the other direction. This is also why it is sometimes called ‘blindside’.

WHAT IS AN OLLIE?

The ‘Ollie’ is about getting the skateboard into the air, and if you don’t know what one is, you should learn it first - How To Ollie.

how to BACKside 180 ollie

Place your back foot on the tail and sit your front foot just before the bolts, on a slight angle.

Pop the Ollie.

Using your hips, chest, shoulders and head - swing everything around to help with momentum for the 180 degree spin.

Land with wide feet and bent knees in fakie (rolling backwards).

Don't feel disheartened if you are only reaching 45/90 degrees, keep practising and you'll get there.

A good stepping stone is to land on the nose and pivot the board the rest of the way around.

NOW GO PRACTISE!

We hope you enjoyed this Enuff Academy, now get skating!
