Enuff Academy
BRAKING
In this Enuff Academy, Geoff will be teaching you how to slow down and stop on a skateboard.
We'd like to say a big thank you to ATBShop Skate Warehouse for letting us film in their park and Geoff from Rubicon for his time and expertise.
HOW TO BRAKE ON A SKATEBOARD
BUT FIRST, HOW NOT TO BRAKE
Do not push your tail straight down to brake, as this will cause wear, creating a razor tail.
HOW TO BRAKE ON A SKATEBOARD
BASIC: FOOT BRAKE
While moving, take your back foot and step just ahead of the board.
Using your back foot, slowly apply pressure to the ground to slow down and stop.
Do not step your back foot behind the board.
ADVANCED: POWERSLIDE
While moving, apply weight to your front foot to release some weight from your back foot.
Use your back foot to pivot the lighter, backend around.
The board will then slide to a stop.
NOW GO PRACTISE!
We hope you enjoyed this Enuff Academy, now get skating!
